Materials I found out about the Red Bull Flugtag Campaign in USA including a campaign website, news releases on the Red Bull official website, videos about the event on YouTube, Red Bull Flugtag Flight Lab online game, and a Facebook group for this campaign. Overview all these materials, the campaign get into different aspects of audiences’ life.
As a PR campaign for a well-known energy drinks, the theme of the campaign matches the product very well, and even improves the product’s image. First of all, flying from a platform on the sea is a kind of activity challenges people’s physical and mental energy. Competitors need to be physically healthy and have the guts to challenge themselves. This matches the image Red Bull always has. Besides, the Flugtag campaign also requires competitors’ creativity. This upgrades the product’s image from just a physical energy drinks to a physical and mental energy drinks. And thus the product targets not only consumers with physical energy needs, but also those who need to have a bunch of ideas. Lastly, the Red Bull Flugtag Campaign meets with its target consumers’ interests. Be creative, be brave, and have fun, according to their lifestyle, all these can encourage its target consumers’ to like this campaign.
As for the materials of the campaign, lots of videos and images of the event are used. This makes the event more appealing to its audiences and brings fun to them. In this way, it encourages more people to participate in the event and increases a more favorable opinion about the brand. The specific website of this campaign allows audiences to learn more and the latest information about the campaign. It also acts like an information platform to create an atmosphere for the event. Compared with the campaign website, the Facebook group acts like a place to gather fans of the event. As there are more fans sharing their own experience or opinions about the campaign, the relationship between audiences and the brand become closer. Base on all these information strategies, the Flugtag online game satisfies more people’s entertaining needs. And it creates an atmosphere for the event among the younger generation.

Red Bull Flugtag Campaign
The PR campaign we chose for our partnership project is the “Red Bull Flugtag USA” campaign. It is a campaign launched by Red Bull Company in different cities within the United State. The same campaign is also launched in cities of different countries. However, we are just going to analyze the one launched in the USA.
This campaign is mainly an event, in which competitors would try to fly with their human-powered flying machines made by themselves. “Flying” from a 30 feet high platform built up on the sea, competitors usually have funny performances before they launch off. Yet, flying machines created by competitors can rarely work. And most competitors enter into the sea directly in order to enjoy the fun of the event.
Started in 1991, the Red Bull Flugtag Campaign has been launched for many years in different cities all over the world. And in some places, it was held every year as a regular event. So, a lot of audiences have the knowledge base about this event. And the event keeps the record of the most outstanding competitors every year, for other competitors participate in the next year to challenge it.
According to the website of this campaign (http://www.redbullflugtagusa.com/), the event is launched in four cities in the USA this year, including Miami FL, Twin cities MN, Long beach CA, and Philadelphia PA. There is a bunch of videos and images about the event on the campaign website. And the website provides almost all the information and the latest information about the event in different places.
Besides the campaign website, there are also news release on the first page of the Red Bull official website, videos about the event on YouTube, Red Bull Flugtag Flight Lab online game, and a Facebook group for this campaign.

When did Beauty Become Unethical?
As a girl, I totally agree with the saying that “shopping is the nature of ladies”. Ladies can always have a lot of things that they need to buy or want to buy. Clothes, shoes, cosmetics, accessories… But why do we need to buy so many things while there are already a bunch of them sitting in our wardrobes? Since we are kept being told that we are not looking good enough.
"Beauty Backlash” pointed out that commercials selling female products, especially cosmetics, are using more and more pretty young models, which makes women feel insecure about they way they look. Seeing those tall, thin, young models with pretty faces, we would always want to become one of them. We might buy the eye shadow just because the model using it has charming bright eyes; we might buy the lip stick just because the model using it has sexy or sweet lips… We might buy all those things just because we want to be as pretty as those models are.
Yet, we can never be as perfect as those models do. Since we can’t use Photoshop to change the shape of our face, eyes, nose, and lips; we can’t get everyone’s best part on our body either. So no matter how much we spend on our “beauty project”, we still can’t reach our goal. Compared with those perfect looking young models, we will finally become lack of self-esteem, and feel upset about ourselves.
Considering how much women could be “hurt” by those perfect models in commercials, are advertisements doing too much to achieve their goals? A lot of things can be done to increase sales and make greater profits without making ladies feeling insecure. Companies can use strategies related to price, quality, brand image and other areas to boost their sales. And consumers can get beauty and confidence that they want. But companies’ appetite seems being too big to be satisfied. They not only want women to consume regularly, they want them to consume every time when new products are launched on the market. Thus, they need to beat down ladies’ confidence again and again, make them feel bad about themselves; so that they would feel they are in need of the new product.
Making use of consumer’s psychological weakness, while designing the promotional campaign, is quite common and reasonable for all types of companies. But the use of perfect and standardized beauty in defeating ladies’ self-esteem, making them feel bad and insecure, is an unethical way. Every girl has the right to be a princess, no matter how they were born to be. Because there are a lot more things than just the out looking that can contribute to our beauty. Yet, companies try to standardize beauty in order to change the society’s value point, and change the definition of “beauty”. This, on one hand, push ladies to worry about their out looking overly. On the other hand, it denies a lot of ladies being beautiful in different ways, and makes them feel like being at the bottom of the ‘beauty world”.
Beauty, as a thing every one is pursuing for, is a miracle in our world. But when it was used overly so that it hurts people’s feeling, it is unethical.

Wong Lo Kat- Functional Drink? Herbal Tea? Health Drink! (Final)

Tired of what you drink? I have something new, funny, and healthy to introduce to you! A popular drink from Southern China- Wong Lo Kat.
What is Wong Lo Kat?
Wong Lo Kat, one of most traditional and distinguished brands in Chinese heritage has more than 170 years of history. It's a functional drinks. Pricesly, it is herbal tea. It is a kind of beverage that helps to clear away the accumulated "heat" in the human body.
Where does Wong Lo Kat come from?
Wong Lo Kat herbal tea originated from Guangdong, China, and is a commonly known health drink in the region. Guangdong is situated in Lingnan, which has a subtropical climate. The weather is hot and humid.
Why Wong Lo Kat?
The influence of hot and humid climate, improper diet, and lack of sleep would easily lead to body heat, which is called "catching 'heatiness" in Chinese medical science. Such heatiness exists in human body. It is considered as toxic in the body, and would do harm to our health according to Chinese medication. In order to clear away such toxics, historical Chinese in Guangdong area created different types of herbal tea by using certain kinds of Chinese herbs with the functions of clearing away heatiness, moist, and summer-heat. So drinking herbal tea in Guangdong area is similar to drinking a lot of water after taking exercise, or taking a salt bath to detoxic our body in the United State.
What is catching "heatiness"?
“Heatiness” is a traditional concept in Chinese medical science. It is a general term in Chinese medical theory describing all diseases that are hot and masculine in nature. There are many ways to catch heatiness: living in a hot and humid environment; eating fried, toasted, grilled, or BBQ food; lack of sleep etc. And many body symptoms indicate that we are catching heatiness, for instance, having pain in the throat, getting pimples, or having halotosis. Without cleaning away the heatiness in our body from time to time, people become more prone to serious illness.

Where is the Freedom of Press?
As normal citizens, we always complain about our governments, but still, we trust them. Or, you may say, you never trust the government, you trust the media. In some cases, there is no big difference between the two. You trust media, but when the media is controlled by, or is working for the government, you finally have to trust the government. As you know more about the relationship between media and government, you’ll find it harder to believe in the freedom of press.
I always complain about my government not doing good enough with respect to the freedom of press. During some period when sensitive political issues arise, Facebook might be blocked, some specific foreign websites would be blocked, and we are not allowed to access certain key word articles or bulletin boards. Through the suppression of potentially adversarial information, the Chinese government tries to limit our access to information it doesn’t want us to know.
However, it seems that governments all do the same thing. Even if the government allows us to access all information, we might not be able to determine the truth.
We get all of our information from media and trust it because we trust the freedom of press. We believe that the independent press will bring us the truth. So we feel angry when reporters tell us what terrorists have done; we feel excited when reporters say “the president finally decided to start the war”; and we even feel happy when reporters tell us how many buildings were successfully bombed every day. But we forget to ask some important questions: Where did media gain the information? Who are the media reporting for? Is it really independent press?
“War Made Easy” implies that our media is working for the government. Either they have decided they have to work for the government, or were trained to see things from the government’s viewpoint. They rely on government for the information; they might even be boycotted if they don’t obey the government’s direction. Under such a circumstance, can media offer independent press? Can we see the truth of what’s happening in the world?
Media are just tools of the government to help deliver its propaganda. When government wants our support, media will remind us how much our life quality has been increased, and how much effort the government had made; when government wants us to support a war it has decided to engage, media will tell us how urgent it is to help people in the other country to gain freedom and democracy, or how many weapons have been developed in that country.
We have a lot of things to complain about with respect to our governments, but we still trust them, partially because we have been told that there is freedom of press in our countries. What shall we do after we discover all governments are the same, and the freedom of press is largely a myth? We can only see through our eyes, hear through our ears, and most importantly, think from our own point of view.

Welcome to Know More About Me
Hello everyone,
I'm Victing Hu from Canton, China.
Currently, I'm studying in Hamline University for my one-term exchange program. After this, I will continue my study in the United International College in Zhuhai, China as a senior student.
As a student of Public Relations and Advertising, I’m proud of my ability of being multilingual- Cantonese, mandarin, English, and some basic Spanish. Besides, experience of working in different areas makes me become a fast-learner. I worked in an Industrial and Commercial Bureau as an office clerk, and worked in a traveling agency as a tour guide. I also volunteered as an English teacher in a primary school in Zhuhai.
As for my career, by now, I don’t have any specific dream job. But I would like to start by being a secretary in an international company. Since this will be a real challenge and a good chance for me to learn by handling tasks in different areas.
I like being active, and also enjoy quiet environment. This explains why I have these hobbies: dancing, roller skating, swimming, and practicing Chinese calligraphy. For the type of dancing, Chinese folk dancing and Latin dancing are my favorites.
Can be active and can be quiet; serious when working or studying, but crazy about fun; this is me!
To know more about me, come and talk with me!
